This post is made in memory of Nils.
Special thanks to Candy for leading the expedition.

Pretty bird - not quite sure on the type - a Thrush or Warbler, perhaps?
Gorgeous conservation wetlands
Swans!
In the summer of '93, the water would have topped that blue pole.
That was quite a summer in many ways. Hard to believe it's been 20 years...
It almost looks like that tree is smoking!
I recall seeing a lot of these little guys around last summer.
Today was very warm, but that's supposed to change drastically, and soon.
Boardwalk leading to the convergence overlook
I saw an eagle, a falcon, and a hawk in the course of the afternoon.
None of them are pictured here. They all moved quite quickly.
The very tip of the convergence point is out past the sand bar.
There's a zoom-in on the point, with barges in the background.
Even though it rained last night, the Mississippi is still shockingly low.
A look back up the Missouri River
Driftwood on a sand bar
Seagulls!
Mordor...er...Wood River, I suppose.
A handful of snow survived the warm day.
At ground level, this little plant looks almost like an old tree.
A little path
Incredible lushness for winter
I wonder why these bones ended up next to the path.
Snake hole
That oak leaf is bigger than my shoe (size 11).
Under a woven canopy
Brilliant reflection
